At least I´m fond of a few more than Miss Dunne! ;) But of course,I´m glad that Janine finds this a rather weak film too. Janine, we have many proofs that the "wounded puppy effect" was NOT natural facing Miss Dunne. :)
Thanks to both of you for being such reliable readers and commentators! How could she dare! :...Yes yes, tell Susanne, Rena! How could she dare! :) Nooo, honestly, I think she's right the movie is weak. I have nothing to say about the remake but the novel is far better. But even Ms. Dunne couldn't do wonders with a weak script. And Mr. Boles? He's wooden and I can hardly listen to his monotonous voice. And if he looks like a wounded puppy - maybe it's natural facing Ms Dunne :) and I mean it in a positive way. :D
Nevertheless the film is enjoyable and Ms. Dunne lights up the screen with her sheer presence.
Thank you again for a great review, Susanne.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1251568927451439906.post-41152326392323147012010-09-29T02:14:45.399-07:002010-09-29T02:14:45.399-07:00Susanne, first of all I am glad that you've po...Susanne, first of all I am glad that you've posted a new review even though I have to disagree with you for the first time =(
I think this is a beautiful movie, I don't see why you think the script is weak, well, it's true that I haven't read the novel but I guess most people haven't so it's still a good story. I also adore John Boles here, I think his face is not that of a wounded puppy (that made me laugh, though) I think he was good in his role and well...generally speaking I think this is such a good movie better than that 1993 remake (I saw the remake long ago and to be quite honest, I didn't like it at all)

Anyway, I always adore reading your reviews whether I agree with your or not so thank you again!

Oh, one more thing, I visited the Metropolitan Museum 2 months ago and even though I had already seen this film I must accept that I had totally forgotten about that particular scene =( That's sad =(Renatanoreply@blogger.com
